Basics You roll a pair of dice in a series of rounds, each of which begins with a Come Out roll. If the dice total 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10, that number becomes the Point and the round continues until you either roll the Point again or 7. The game state is then ON. If the dice total anything else on the Come Out roll, the state remains OFF. A Natural is a roll of 7 or 11, and Craps is a roll of 2, 3, or 12. (Sources: rules, rules, rules, and rules.)

Bets

Before the Come Out roll:

  • PASS LINE You win 1:1 if the Come Out roll is a Natural and lose if it's Craps. If a Point is set, your bet stays on; you win if the Point is rolled again and lose if 7 is rolled before the Point.
  • DON'T PASS You win 1:1 if the Come Out roll totals 2 or 3; if the dice roll a Natural, you lose. A 12 results in a tie. If a Point is set, your bet stays on; you win if 7 is rolled and lose if the Point is rolled again.

After the Point is set:

  • COME BET You win if a Natural is rolled and you lose if Craps gets rolled. Any other roll becomes the Come Point; now you win if the Come Point is rolled again and lose if you roll 7.
  • DON'T COME You win if 2 or 3 is rolled and lose if a Natural gets rolled; 12 results in a tie. Any other roll becomes the Come Point and you win if a 7 gets rolled before the Come Point repeats and lose if the Come Point is rerolled.
  • ODDS You place ODDS either on top of the PASS LINE, or COME BET. Once you have a Point or a Come point, you take the ODDS and win if the Point or the Come point is made before a 7. Payoffs change with ODDS to 2:1 for 4 or 10, 3:2 for 5 or 9, 6:5 for 6 or 8.
  • PLACE BETS If your number is rolled before 7, you win. Payoff ratios: 9:5 on 4 or 10, 7:5 on 5 or 9, 7:6 on 6 or 8. You can cancel this bet anytime.

Can be made anytime:

  • BIG 6 or 8 You win 1:1 if a 6 or 8 comes up before 7.
  • LAY BETS You win if 7 is rolled before your LAY BET number. 1:2 on 4 or 10, 2:3 on 5 or 9, 5:6 on 6 or 8.
  • FIELD One-roll bets. You win if your FIELD number is rolled before 5, 6, 7 or 8 — 2 pays double, 12 pays 3:1, and other numbers pay 1:1.
  • PROPOSITION BETS: One-roll bets (except for HARD WAY).
    • ANY SEVEN You win 5:1 if the next roll is 7.
    • ANY CRAPS You win 8:1 if the next roll is a 2, 3, or 12.
    • ANY THREE or YO ELEVEN You win 16:1 if 3 or 11 is rolled.
    • SNAKE EYES or MIDNIGHT You win 30:1 if 2 or 12 is rolled.
    • HORN BET You are placing separate bets on 2, 3, 11, and 12 at once. Non-winning bets are lost.
    • HARD WAY You win if the dice roll as shown and lose if the sum is rolled any other way or 7 is rolled.
